“Make the healthy choice the easy choice!”

Megan Bishop founded Nashville Nutrition & Weight Loss in 2021 and brings over a decade of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Raised in Louisiana, her love of great food came naturally, but her own challenges navigating healthy eating as an adult inspired her to pursue a career in nutrition.

Today, Megan helps adults build sustainable nutrition habits that support weight loss, metabolic health, and long-term behavior change — without rigid rules or restriction.

Megan’s Philosophy on Nutrition & Weight Loss

Megan has spent her career specializing in adult weight management and metabolic health. Research shows that long-term success with any nutrition plan comes down to adherence — what someone can realistically follow and maintain over time. There really is no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition.

When developing nutrition plans, Megan encourages clients to include foods they enjoy and continue celebrating life’s special moments. She believes nutrition should never feel miserable. Instead, she works collaboratively with clients to build habits that feel manageable, supportive, and sustainable — helping them reach their goals without unnecessary stress.

A Little About Megan

Outside of work, Megan is mostly just trying to keep up with her toddler, dog, and growing business. She enjoys getting outside, cooking nourishing (and tasty) meals, and listening to podcasts and audiobooks.

Favorite dish to cook: Chicken and sausage gumbo — even though it takes some time and effort, she loves sharing it with others.

Understanding Our Credentials

  • The RD/RDN credential is the gold standard in nutrition and dietetics. To earn it, a practitioner must complete a minimum of a master's degree in dietetics or a related field, finish an accredited supervised practice program, and pass a national board examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. RDNs are also required to complete continuing education to maintain their credential. In Tennessee, RDNs must additionally hold state licensure as a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist.

  • The LDN is a state license issued by the Tennessee Department of Health that authorizes a dietitian to practice nutrition counseling in Tennessee. It ensures that practitioners meet state-specific standards for education, training, and professional conduct. All of our dietitians hold active LDN licensure in Tennessee.

  • The CSOWM is a board certification awarded by the Commission on Dietetic Registration recognizing advanced expertise in obesity and weight management. To earn this certification, a dietitian must demonstrate significant clinical experience working with patients on weight management and pass a rigorous specialty exam. It reflects a higher level of specialized training beyond the standard RDN credential and is held by a relatively small percentage of practicing dietitians nationally.

*Megan completed her dietetic training prior to the master's degree requirement and has maintained her RDN credential through ongoing continuing education.

What’s the Difference between a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Nutritionist

In Tennessee, the title "nutritionist" is not a protected term — meaning anyone can use it regardless of their education, training, or credentials. A Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, by contrast, has completed a minimum of a master's degree, an accredited supervised practice program, passed a national board examination, and holds active state licensure.

This distinction matters when your health is involved. Nutrition counseling for weight management, diabetes, heart health, or bariatric support requires clinical training and accountability that a credential like RDN ensures — and that the title "nutritionist" alone does not.

When you work with our team, you can be confident you're receiving care from licensed, credentialed professionals whose training and practice are held to rigorous national and state standards.
