  • What’s with all those letters behind your names?
RDN: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist CSOWM: Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management LDN: Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist – indicates I hold a valid license to practice in my state.
  • Can I work with you if I don’t live near Nashville?
We are currently licensed to work with anyone in Tennessee. If you live in Tennessee, but too far from Nashville, we can see you virtually through telehealth. For other states – it depends because each state has its own licensure rules for dietitians. You can always contact us to ask, and we will let you know if it’s an option for you!
  • Will my health insurance cover my appointments?
We are currently in network with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United and Medicare. Everyone’s coverage is different, so we will always verify your benefits and let you know exactly what is (and isn’t) covered before we get started.
  • What should I expect at my first appointment?
This is where we really get to know each other. We’ll go through a lot of questions to make sure that the plan we develop makes sense for you. We’ll talk about your health status, eating habits and nutrition concerns. From that information, we’ll mutually determine the best place to start with making nutrition changes and what resources you need to do that. This appointment usually takes around 90 minutes.
  • What should I expect at my follow up appointments?
We’ll talk about what is going well, review any areas you are struggling with and address any questions you have. Depending on how you are progressing, we’ll be troubleshooting challenges, digging up more resources to keep you going, or encouraging you to push forward to meet that next goal! These appointments last anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on how much you would like to work on in our session.
  • How often will I see you?
This is individualized based on several factors. How often you are able and/or willing to make it to appointments. How many visits/how many hours your insurance covers. Ideally, we start out every 1-2 weeks, then space out visits as you progress. That is the interval that shows best outcomes for intensive lifestyle therapy. We will offer advice on how often to follow up based on best outcomes and coverage, but everyone has different needs, and it is ultimately your choice!
  • What areas of nutrition are your specialties?
We specialize in adult weight management, diabetes, and preventative nutrition, so these are the areas in which we can offer the most expertise and experience. If you need to work on something else or aren’t sure where you fall, we are happy to talk to you about what your nutrition concerns are and whether we think we would be an appropriate resource for you.
  • I’m still not sure where to start, can I talk to someone?"
Yes! Call, text, or email us and we are happy to answer any questions or concerns you have! We want you to feel completely comfortable with your decision to work with us.
